KVSAR Community Service

The Kern Valley Search and Rescue team is a community service organization that participates in many community events.  The team is supported completely by donations from the community and returns the generousity by making sure the community is taken care of as
well.  You can see some of our projects listed on this page.

Other Support Activities:
Along with supporting the community we also support the Kern County Sheriff's Department during special operation activities.  We have been called upon to do the following activities:

  • Swat Support
  • Medical Standby
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Fire Evacuations
  • Ferrying of Fireman to Inaccessible Areas
  • Flood Evacuations
  • Traffic Control
  • Assist in Disaster Relief
  • Scene Preservation
Projects:
Pride Day: The unit has participated for more than twenty years annually in the local Pride Day to clean the valley lands.

Disaster Relief: The Kern Valley team is prepared to support a major disaster in the valley with facilities, equipment, and training.  Flash Floods in 2008 demanded the use of the teams swiftwater training to protect residents of the Lake Isabella Area.

Adopt-A-Higway: The team has adopted a two mile section of highway on the west side of the lake to keep clean and free of debris.

Public Education: Various Projects to Educate the community on outdoor safety.
