Our Programs
One of the most important jobs that KVSAR has is the duty to educate those that enjoy the Kern River Valley. The unit prides itself on working to make the valley a safe place to live and play. The unit uses several methods to teach the public about water safety, boating safety, and wilderness safety. One of the most important methods we employ is school presentations that introduce the children of the valley to water safety and the use of life jackets. In addition to these, the unit is available for public presentations at local events and meetings. Finally, the team spends many weekends traveling around the valley talking to people and showing them the importance of life vests. Our rewards program treats children to a special surprise of we find them being safe in and around the water.

Wilderness Safety
Anyone who likes the outdoors and finds themselves in the wilderness surrounding the Kern River Valley should take some precautions when they leave.
The primary thing a person should do is tell someone where you are going. Let this person know where you plan on being and when you are expected to return. This information may prove to save your life in the event of a problem. Our public education programs deal with this issue and many other details that can make the difference between life and death.
